Jack Jackanory

He kissed his mum goodbye
With a twinkle in his eye
Crossed his heart and hoped to die
That he'd never tell a lie
But you never can change the spots on a leopard

He went off for a lark
Playing truent in the park
And he stayed after dark
Drinking cider from a flask
With three old men, and a german shepard

And his mum was in a chair
Phoning friends and going spare

Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home

Well the milk ran down
So she sent him in to town
With a kiss and a frown
Told him not to hang around
And off he went with good intention

But he went to the shops
And he stole some lollipops
And the had to call the cops
For to put him in the dock
And he span them a yarn of his own invention

And his mum was in a chair
Phoning friends and going spare

Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
(Jack's been telling lies)
Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
(Jack's been telling lies)

Well they took him to court
Where his pleas were ignored
He said he done what he did
'Cos he was feeling really bored
And the judge said jack it all in, Jack just jack it all in
The jury went outside
For a verdict to decide
And his mum she cried
When they said "Put him inside!"
Oh Jack just jacked it all in, Jack just jacked it all in

Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
(Jack's been telling lies)
Jack Jackanory told her a story now he can't go home
(Jack's been telling lies)
