Ben is the band's other main songwriter and has produced the band's best rockers along with a couple of inspired tender moments. “I learnt the guitar originally from riffs”, he explains, “and the power of the approach is something I’ve never forgotten. You can know every scale in the world ever, but someone will stab a riff in your back and it's "et tu Sir Keef"!”

Whilst Losing Touch, Surf The Sexxx.Net and Life On The Road are, in Martin’s words “an Everest of rock”, songs like Little Red Spiders show an offbeat and charming lightness of touch that are seemingly integral to the band's wider approach. “I think we’ve definitely defined our own identity as a group now”, says Ben, “though it’s a fairly recent development. Martin and I do a lot of things similarly, but are different enough to keep things interesting and inspire each other”.

In addition to his musical talents, Ben is also the band techie, and is becoming ever more proficient in studio magic.
